Homework

  • Each classroom hour is associated with approximately two hours of homework, which includes reading, preparation for quizzes and exams, writing reflections, and group project preparation.

Attendance

  • In a course like this, your attendance is essential. Try not to miss any classes if possible. However, if you must, you do not need to provide doctor's notes or other documentation. See the policy on attendance in the Assignments page.

Plagiarism

  • Students may not use any text or portion of a text written by someone else, either published or unpublished, without making explicit reference to the source of such text. Make it absolutely clear who wrote every single sentence in your paper. Please understand that any possible sources of information you find I can also find. All instances of plagiarism will be reported to the Dean’s office. The minimal penalty for plagiarism is no credit for the assignment. Please refer to the Academic Expectations Related to Student Conduct for UNC's official policy. If you are not sure what is plagiarism, make an effort to learn; here is an excellent resource.

Reference style

  • Use APA style. Do not forget a list of references at the end of your paper. No footnotes or endnotes, please.

Drafts

  • You can show me as many drafts f each paper as you want, if you bring it in person and before the deadline.

Disability Statement

Students who believe that they may need accommodations in this class are encouraged to contact the Disability Access Center (970) 351-2289 as soon as possible to ensure that accommodations are implemented in a timely fashion.
